Our Story — From a Small Workshop to 1,00,000+ Happy Homes

Shekhawati Crafts began in 1996 as a small furniture workshop in Ramgarh, Rajasthan. Our founder, Shree Vinod Kumar Chaturvedi, had one vision — to bring the extraordinary woodcraft tradition of the Shekhawati region directly to Indian homes, bypassing the long chain of distributors and retailers that made quality furniture unnecessarily expensive.

The Shekhawati region had always been known for its ornate painted havelis and frescoed mansions. But beneath that visual grandeur lay another equally extraordinary tradition — the art of hand-carved wooden furniture, practised by families of skilled craftsmen for generations. Our founder saw this craft being slowly forgotten as mass-produced, MDF-based furniture flooded the market. He decided to preserve it.

Starting with a small team of 5 artisans and a handful of tools, Shekhawati Crafts began making solid Sheesham wood beds, dining tables, and bookshelves — one piece at a time, by hand.

🤲 Hand-crafted joinery — We use traditional mortise-and-tenon joints, wooden dowels, and time-tested joinery techniques that create furniture that holds together for decades — no metal screws that loosen over time.

🪵 Hand-carved detailing — Our artisans hand-carve every floral motif, geometric pattern, and decorative element. Each carving takes hours — sometimes days — and no two pieces are identical.

✨ Hand-finished surfaces — Every piece is sanded through multiple grades by hand before a finishing coat is applied — resulting in a surface that is silky smooth and rich in colour.

🎨 4 beautiful finishes — Natural (original warm wood tone), Walnut (deep rich brown), Honey (golden amber), Matte Black (contemporary sleek). All applied by hand.

Sheesham Wood (Indian Rosewood)

Our primary material for beds, wardrobes, dining tables, and storage furniture. Sheesham (Dalbergia Sissoo) is:

• Gets more beautiful with age — richer grain, deeper colour

Mango Wood (Mangifera Indica)

Our artisans come from families in and around Ramgarh where woodworking has been practised for three and four generations. Many of them started learning the craft as teenagers — watching their fathers and grandfathers shape Sheesham wood into extraordinary furniture with nothing more than hand tools, keen eyes, and deep patience.

Step 1 — Wood Selection 🌳 Master craftsmen personally select and inspect each timber plank for grain quality, density, moisture content, and consistency before purchase.

Step 2 — Kiln Drying 🔥 Selected timber is kiln-dried to reduce moisture to optimal levels — ensuring the wood will not warp, crack, or swell after delivery to your home.

Step 3 — Handcrafting 🤲 Artisans shape, join, and carve the furniture by hand using traditional techniques. Complex pieces can take several days to complete.

Step 4 — Quality Inspection ✅ Every finished piece is inspected by our quality team — checking joints, surface finish, dimensions, and structural integrity before any product is approved for dispatch.

Step 5 — Finishing 🎨 Approved pieces are hand-sanded and finished in your chosen finish — Natural, Walnut, Honey, or Matte Black — before being carefully packaged for delivery.
